SORAFENIB

Nexavar

Indication:

This medication is used to treat kidney or liver cancer. It may also be used to treat a certain type of thyroid cancer (differentiated thyroid carcinoma). Nexavar (Sorafenib Tosylate) stops or slows the growth of cancer cells (tumors). It also works by slowing the growth of new blood vessels within the tumor.

Brand name:Nexavar

Active Ingeridents: Sorafenib Tosylate

Company Name: Bayer

Package: 60 Tablets

Strength : 200mg

Mechanism of action:

Nexavar (Sorafenib Tosylate) interacts with multiple intracellular (CRAF, BRAF and mutant BRAF) and cell surface kinases (KIT, FLT-3, VEGFR-2, VEGFR-3, and PDGFR-ß). Several of these kinases are thought to be involved in angiogenesis, thus Nexavar (Sorafenib Tosylate) reduces blood flow to the tumor. Nexavar (Sorafenib Tosylate) is unique in targeting the Raf/Mek/Erk pathway. By inhibiting these kinases, genetic transcription involving cell proliferation and angiogenesis is inhibited.

Take this medication by mouth on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal) as directed by your doctor, usually twice a day.
