Description of Mamofen 20 (Tamoxifen 20 mg) tablet
One of the ingredients of Mamofen 20 tablet, called Tamoxifen, is an antineoplastic drug, and falls under the category of drugs known as selective estrogen receptor modulators ( SERMs ) category of drugs. It extensively finds use in the treatment and prevention of the hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. Tamoxifen is an estrogen antagonist of the breast tissue thus averting the growth of estrogen stimulated cancer cell in the breast tissue. In the meantime it may be a partial agonist of other tissues e.g. bone and endometrium.Such selective behavior renders it useful in minimizing tumor progression although retaining good bone density.

- Drug–Drug Interaction
Warfarin × Tamoxifen
Tamoxifen has the potential to increase the anticoagulant effect of warfarin and hence the risk of bleeding. INR should be carefully monitored.
Paroxetine × Tamoxifen
These medications block the action of CYP2D6 enzyme that is needed to transform Tamoxifen into an active drug. This makes Tamoxifen less effective and could cause the failure of treatment.
Aromatase inhibitors × Tamoxifen
